Located across from the Merrickville Locks, The Yellow Canoe Café offers a relaxing atmosphere and quality food for a casual dining experience.
The Yellow Canoe Café has been in business for over 15 years. Current owner, Danielle Pelletier, took over the business in August 2014 and has maintained the relaxing and cozy-feel of the restaurant while adding her own personal flare. Danielle's passion for cooking and quality food began at an early age, as she watched her mother, a previous owner of the Yellow Canoe, passionately create and experiment with new recipes in the kitchen.
The Yellow Canoe Café strives to offer its guests a unique experience promoting local producers, businesses and artists. In our kitchen we use seasonal and locally sourced fruits, vegetables and herbs when available. The menu offers a selection of: sandwiches, all of which are served on bread from Graham's Bakery in Kemptville, salads with fresh organic greens from Bluegrass Farm in Jasper, fresh soups and desserts, which are all prepared in-house from scratch. We accommodate most dietary restrictions and feature vegetarian, gluten-free and vegan options. Our wine and beer selection also features VQA Ontario wine and Ontario beers.
The interior dining room features paintings, photos and artwork by local artists, including Angelina Wrona, Hanna MacNaughtan and the Merrickville Photography Club. During the summer months, the restaurant features a lovely garden patio overlooking the Merrickville blockhouse and historic locks on the Rideau Canal.
